Press release: HeatSim revolutionizes heat network planning: Kelvin Green launches new simulation tool at E-World 2025
Essen/Berlin – Kelvin Green launches the HeatSim heating network simulation software at E-World 2025. Innovative tool for heating network operators: HeatSim enables precise operating simulations to optimize heat generation systems.
Kelvin Green, a leading provider of solutions for sustainable heating networks, will be presenting its latest innovation at E-World from February 11-13, 2025 in Essen (Hall 4, Stand 4J108): The HeatSim heating network simulation software. The completely new and user-friendly tool enables heating network operators to simulate heat generation for the next 20 years with hourly resolution and close to operation thanks to a powerful calculation core – taking into account all relevant system parameters in various scenarios.
Simple operation, great benefits for heating network operators
HeatSim was specially developed to easily and efficiently solve the complex challenges faced by heating network operators in the context of the upcoming heat transformation. The software offers extensive functions for optimizing costs, planning and operation:
- Investment optimization: By comparing the full costs of different generators and storage systems over their service life, investments can be optimally planned.
- Tariff optimization: HeatSim supports pricing and contract design as well as risk management based on future operating cases.
- Procurement optimization: Comparing different procurement strategies facilitates price negotiations and strategic decisions.
- Predictive generator deployment planning: HeatSim enables the cost comparison between optimized generator deployment control and the fixed ranking of generators.
- Subsidy optimization: The software calculates BEW, EEG and KWKG subsidies as well as electricity fee income from CHP in the operating scenario.
- Heat network optimization: HeatSim calculates generation cost benefits with different flow temperatures and the use of heat pumps.
- Technical planning support: The creation of operational load profiles and operating points helps to optimize the design of systems such as heat pumps.
“We are already successfully using the Kelvin Green HeatSim interactively in numerous consulting projects with around 30 of our customers. The feedback has been so overwhelmingly positive that we are now delighted to be able to make HeatSim available to a wider audience as self-service software and thus promote the efficient and affordable heating transition.” Martin Bornholdt, Managing Director Kelvin Green
“HeatSim was indispensable for our heat planning.” Thorsten Beyer, Stadtwerke Staßfurt
“As part of the transformation plan for our heating networks in Staßfurt, we made intensive use of the Kelvin Green HeatSim to compare the full costs of various heat generation options in different price development scenarios and to better assess risks. We also saw how high the generation cost savings would be if we lowered the flow temperature to 75°C. It was very easy to use and the findings are indispensable for our heat planning.” Torsten Beyer, Head of Technology at Stadtwerke Staßfurt
