Webinar review: Biogas & heating networks – new business models for biogas plants

19. June 2025

In our webinar on June 19, 2025, we showed how biogas plants can continue to be operated economically even after the EEG subsidy expires. The high level of interest and the lively discussion showed that the combination of biogas, flexibility and heat utilization is in tune with the times.

The focus was on the following topics:

  • New framework conditions in the biogas market
Overview of the 2025 biogas package and the economic opportunities offered by flexible operation.
  • Heat as an additional value-added lever
Own heating network or partnership with the local supplier – we showed concrete ways to implement this.
  • Simulation & planning with HeatSim
Using a real-life practical example, we demonstrated how the HeatSim tool can be used to transparently evaluate economic efficiency and funding options.

Our most important findings:

  • The Biogas Package 2025 opens up new economic prospects – but requires a clear strategic realignment.
  • Heat is becoming the decisive second pillar of revenue: whether through your own heating network or as a partner of local suppliers – it pays to think about heat systematically.
  • HeatSim can be used to simulate economic efficiency, delivery options and optimum operation in detail – and prepare decisions based on data.

Special thanks go to our guest Uwe Welteke-Fabricius for his well-founded assessment of the regulatory framework and market trends.

If you are interested in an initial strategy meeting, we look forward to hearing from you.
